Additional Models for Christ and Culture

This blog post engages Niebuhr’s basic framework. More specifically, it highlights some thinkers who have been critical of Niebuhr’s perspective.

In addition to the five models or paradigms suggested by Niebuhr, you will want to remember short definitions for these additional models of the relationship between Christ and culture:

  • the activist church (Yoder)

  • the conversionist church (Yoder)

  • the confessing church (Yoder)

  • the private church (Hauweras/Willimon)

  • the public church (Hauweras/Willimon)
